Meet Your Smart Trips – Eastside Ambassadors!

We are excited to announce the launch of our next program: Smart Trips Eastside!

Whether it be a trip to the local recreation center, catching some live music, or hanging out at our favorite restaurant, we believe transportation options like walking, biking, transit, and sharing rides are a way to connect people to their families, friends, and their community. With friendly faces and a personalized touch, our aim is to decrease single-occupancy car trips and increase the use of more sustainable transportation options through community outreach and one-on-one educational discussions. We’re looking forward to helping  you explore the city in a whole new way! Sign up for a Smart Trips – Eastside Toolkit to get started and meet our outreach ambassadors, Windel and GP, today!

Wideleine Desir

Windel has been a fan and habitual user of public transit for over 12 years. An Austinite for over two years, she has recently begun to also incorporate biking into her daily routine. Thanks to all of the great amenities that the East Side has to offer, you can catch Windel walking to a local restaurant, coffee shop, or park at any time of the day. As a graduate student at UT, Windel joined the Smart Trips team to help other Eastsiders enjoy their communities using fun and safe routes like she does.

GP SelvaggioBike Camp

A lifelong cyclist, GP brings his passion for active transportation to the Smart Trips team. He has been an east Austin resident for 5 years, and has close ties to its cycling community. Before coming aboard, GP worked on progressive political campaigns across the country. He personally delivers our Transportation Toolkits, so he may be arriving at your doorstep, bike-astride, some time soon!
